Taking a break, sort of.

No, I don’t mean taking a break from WoW – or from blogging. No, I’m taking a semi-break from Trollbane, my 80s, and my guild. I like them all, but the endgame wasn’t as exciting as it used to be and …
Well, I’ve talked about guild problems before. There are times I love being the Guild Master, and others where I would appreciate NOT having any responsibilities other than shooting (or healing) things and not standing in fires.
Being a GM is a lot like standing in the fire all the time, even if you’re in a casual, no regularly scheduled raids, family friendly guild like ours.
Then a good friend told me he was going to be spending a little less time on Trollbane because he had a bunch of friends who had started playing again, and all their old characters were over on Burning Blade. I figured I’d try it out again myself (I had 2 toons there already, neither over level 20), and before I knew it I had a priest, hunter (see above), and DK (for finances & inexpensive ore) all filled with that “New Character” smell.
The wife and I even did the DK starting quests together as a sort of “date night,” though perhaps it was a date only geeks could truly appreciate.
Oh, I know I’ll come back to Trollbane. In some ways I never left. I log in daily to check on auctions, guild status, and provide assistance when needed.
Today’s impromptu Black Temple run was a notable example, in fact. I’m pretty sure I was made Loot Master at least in part because I was very vocal about NOT wanting any loot that dropped. Even had some loot drama, until I removed the failshaman from the raid for not healing people for not getting gem drops. (Really? level 7o gems? You had to get your panties in a bunch because of something with such little resale value due to it being obsolete since Wrath came out?)
“Oops, I lost my heal button” turned into “Oops, I lost my ‘You’re in the raid button’” (Not my best comeback, but I was told it was appreciated.) turned into a long stream of angry whispers and “insults.” The quotes are because I’m not quite sure how “pool boy” ranks on the scale of derogatory terms that have been thrown my way over the years. Somewhere between “moderately bad person” and “marshmallow,” I’m sure, but WHERE between those I haven’t a clue. Fail-shaman sure was mad he’d been left to the solitude of his parents’ basement, although he was quite certain he could get his guild to finish a BT run in 2 hours tops. (Then why was he pugging with us?)

On a related note, I have GM ticket in because WoW tells me my /ignore list is full in spite of me disabling all addons, deleting my WTF folder, and clearing out the 3 names that I could SEE on my /ignore list. Only Trollbane has this problem.
SO, back on topic:
- I really needed a break.
- I haven’t completely left Trollbane or Fortune Favors,
- I’ll be back to devoting lots of time to it I’m sure (This isn’t the first time I’ve gone on a vacation, so there’s precedent here.),
- I’m having a lot of fun leveling a hunter again,
- And even though Burning Blade is a PvP server I haven’t been ganked too much. Well, except for my DK in Hellfire Peninsula, but as I’ve stated before I have no idea what I’m doing when I play a DK and don’t really care to learn. He’s a stepping stone (and bank alt) only.
