New Forum?

OK, so our current forum setup as-is happens to be clunky and rarely used. I’m unsure of how much need we have for a forum, but feel compelled to try out new things anyway. Enter ShoutEM, a service tht lets users create their own microblogging networks. If you’re familliar with Twitter it’s sort of like that, only more customizable and much, much smaller.

Again, I’m not sure if this is the right thing for us, but I’d like to give it a try. If you’re interested, the Fortune Favors forum can be found here.

[EDIT: Trashed the old forum and replaced it in the sidebar with the new shiny one. Whether or not we keep it will depend on levels of participation. Try it out!]

Forums?

I’ve been playing around with forum software, but haven’t found something I like yet. Here’s the options:

A forum that’s fully integrated with wordpress. Single login for everything, but light on the features.
A separate forum. More than one login, but feature rich (image hosting, WYSIWYG editing, etc.).
No forum, because too few people will use it.

Thoughts? Comments? Questions?

For those of you not “in the know,” yes we’ve finally started to do some end game content as a guild! We might not have enough active 70s to raid Karazhan, but fortunately Rowaina managed to help team us up with another guild – Diademed Battle Lords.

It turns out that they needed a few more people as well, so after a few twists and turns it looks like we’re raiding Kara twice a week. “Easy mode” is on Thursdays when we tackle the beginning bosses, and we go after the hard stuff on Sundays.

There are a lot more details than just this, of course. If you have any questions feel free to ask me in game.

A New Beginning

You may have noticed a drastic change here. This is in part due to the fact that wordpress (what this site is running on at the moment) is a lot easier to maintain than drupal (what the old site ran on).

Also, no one was bothering to do anything at all on the old site, so I don’t feel bad about starting again from scratch.

The downside is that you will have to register on our new forum if you want to comment or be promoted above “Not Prepared” (even if you registered on the old site), but that takes hardly any time at all and it’s worth it for a free promotion, right? Just be sure to mention your characters somewhere in your profile so we know who you are in-game.
